Located in the John H. Reagan WWII Memorial Plaza in the Houston Heights, the World War II Memorial commemorates 2,100 Heights-area residents who served in WWII. It is comprised of a large semi-circular wall which highlights the names of the residents, including the 224 people killed. A central obelisk topped with a world globe and a flag and flagpole stand at the center. Twenty-three bollards surround the structure. Each bollard functions as an educational guidepost featuring key battles, including the Allied victories that ended the war. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who represents the area, leads a Memorial Day Ceremony annually at the Plaza. The nearby Heights Library has an indexed file available to locate a name on the memorial or to find other information. The John H.
